candle care

get the most from your candle

getting the most from your starlight

first burn matters most The first time you light your candle, let it burn long enough for the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar. This usually takes about an hour. This prevents tunneling — that's when the candle burns down the center and leaves wax stuck to the sides.

keep your wick trimmed Before each burn, trim the wick to about ¼ inch. This keeps the flame steady and clean, and helps your candle last longer. You can use scissors, nail clippers, or a wick trimmer if you have one.

burn time Each 5-ounce jar gives you approximately 25–30 hours of burn time. For the best experience, try not to burn for more than 3–4 hours at a stretch.

when to stop Once the wax is down to about ½ inch from the bottom of the jar, it's time to retire the candle. This keeps the jar safe and gets it ready for its second life — store spices, hold small items, or top it with one of our customizable lids and make it your own.

a note on our clean burn Because our candles are made from a soy beeswax blend with no synthetic fragrances or dyes, you won't see black soot building up on the jar or surrounding surfaces. That's by design. Clean air, clean light.
